Power of Attorney

Due to her illness I need to acquire power of attorney for my wife. Would anyone know of a reliable reasonably priced lawyer to help me achieve this? Any recommendations would be so very helpful. Many thanks in advance.

Paul from Thy will be done can do this for you but if it's a Spanish POA it won't be accepted in the UK he could arrange that too.

You can do the UK P.O.A. online yourself, I did one for myself and also my wife without problem.

It is pretty easy to do this yourself online for the UK. One caveat is your wife's illness. She has to be mentally competent although you may be at the keyboard on her behalf. It's not right that we enquire into your wife's illness on an open forum but, you just need to be aware that she has to have the mental ability to authorise you to have a lasting power of attorney over her.

I don't know about Spain, but it is quite easy to do UK POAs yourself on line or by requesting the forms from the Office of the Public Guardian. I recently done that and was surprised how straightforward it is. All you pay is £80 for each one to have them registered.

I am most grateful as always for everyone's recommendations on this forum and in the wider community, it really helps us no end.

BTW folks - Hamilton's Bake House have just fired up their ovens next door and the smell is fabulous - I think they are looking for an opening day next week sometime so we will all have to be extra disciplined and resist temptation lol
