Yes, I simply phoned 0044 191 279 0575. I got my new ones a couple of weeks later.
You just need the number on your old card or your NI number and you're good to go.

The EHIC is only for those resident abroad. If you live in UK you get the GHIC.

You do not need the EHIC in UK. Pensioners (like us oldies) get automatic rights to use the NHS in UK as the S1 is valid.

If you don't have an S1 you are not entitled to use the NHS in UK but will receive emergency treatment like everywhere.
