Hormone treatment for prostate cancer

Hormone treatment for prostate cancer

Postby elchedave » Fri Mar 08, 2024 12:52 pm

Hi All,
I have just been prescribed & will be starting today hormone therapy consisting of a six monthly injection of eligard semestral 45mg & a daily dose in tablet form of bicalutamida 50mg.
Looking up on the internet (i know i shouldn't) some of the side effects of taking these meds can be quite scary. Has anyone on the forums had experience of taking said drugs & how did you feel during/after & more importantly can you take other medication (high blood pressure & cholestorol meds) & have a beer or two whilst taking them.
Thanks all,
Regards
Dave.

On a better note,
My Dad had these injections into his stomach@ 80yr old it cured him of his prostrate cancer,
And he still had his daily drinks,

Hi Dave,

I had a monthly injection of zoladex on my stomach for 6 months prior to starting radiotherapy. Think it’s the same drug and I didn’t really notice any significant side effects.

Hopefully it will all work well for you, best of luck.
