What's happened to Benican Vets

What's happened to Benican Vets

Postby Jansl » Fri Mar 08, 2024 4:59 pm

Heard recently that Benican has changed hands, unfortunately it seems not for the better.

Charges seem to have rocketed, went down to arrange a wash & cut for our pooch, met with a scene of absolute chaos. Used to be two assistants behind the counter to help, one poor girl was running around frantically faced with a queue of six people.
We gave up after half an hour & went somewhere else.

More worrying for us & many pet owners I'm sure is at least one of the caring vets has left, namely Pancho.

He was very gentle & our dog loved him - does anyone have any idea if he's still working in the area & if so - where?

Very sad that Pancho has gone. So sympathetic. My dog is fifteen and may not have much longer and I was so hoping that Pancho would be there when his time comes. Reluctant to change vets as my dogs history is recorded at Benican and would be quite stressful for him to get used to another veterinary practice.
I have to say that the other vets there are also very nice. The reception desk is clearly understaffed.

Yes we have moved to Vetapet as well . We would never have moved whilst Javier was in charge , but certainly do not feel any loyality to a big company , as all there worried about is how much money they can screw out of you .

We used Veterzoo in Rojales. A small vets with lovely compassionate people. One of them is English. They took care of our cats until the end and could not have been better.

Many small independent vets in the UK are being taken over by big groups because there is a killing to be made. I guess the same could be happening in Spain.

Yes Javier and the benican vets were lovely. They have closed their hospital bit, do not do home visits, prices have rocketed and they wont do street cats any more at discounted rates. They have been taken over by one of the big English veterinary groups from UK. Its just money money money. No interest in the animals. They try and flog special food etc.Hope they dont take any more practices over here in Spain.
