When it comes to ingesting (not wearing or using in any other way) animal products:

Vegetarian - will not eat anything that was once living and has been killed but will eat dairy products such as cheese/yoghurt/eggs etc;

Vegan - will eat nothing derived from any living animal;

Pescatarian - will eat fish but nothing derived from any land-based animal;

Lacto- ovo - Pescitarian - Will eat fish and dairy but no land-based animal meat.

I am for example in the last category.

I hope that helps a little when entertaining or socialising with friends and family who may fall into one of those categories

Kind regards

Paul

It would be excellent if you would post a few recipes for breakfast, Lunch and dinner say over 3 to 4 days. My sweetheart is not a real lover of red meat, will eat chicken and mostly fish, but when we hit a restaurant with vegetarian options we both enjoy them, however we can’t live off salad and veggie pizzas. So if you would be so kind to give us some ideas, we would be very grateful..

Not quite...if this were the case, vegetarians wouldn't eat plants, which were once alive, but then killed!

I do think a diet of vegetables with dairy products is an healthy option even though I eat meat/fish almost every day.. What is more contradictory is those people who will happily munch on daisy the cow, Snowy the lamb, porky the pig & Henrietta the chicken, yet would scream blue murder if Sooty the cat, or Rex the dog, or Dumbo the elephant was served up in a Sunday roast!
In France you get Frogs legs and Horse meat and meat eaters say errrgh how can you eat that!… very strange behaviour.
Personally there are lots of vegetarian meals that I like.
I've just had some tomato soup with black pepper, coz it’s freezing in England… brrrrr.

I always look at peoples feet when they say they veggie or vegan , and have leather foot wear on or a leather jacket or belt,

Yes I agree,

And my personal preference is not to eat farmed swimming fish such as salmon etc and tend to currently just eat shellfish such as prawns, muscles and clams etc (not lobster for obvious reasons) but I am very steadily heading towards a totally vegetarian diet for personal reasons, however, people do have their own reasons for not eating meat/fish not always because of cruelty, but some because of sustainability, some because of personal health and others because of taste.

The issue of wearing or using animal bi-products such as leather etc is again a personal choice and a vegan would not of course usually wear or use such things, however a vegetarian may decide not to eat any part of an animal themselves but be OK with wearing a bi product on the basis that the animal had already died.

Taking it to another level, there are some folk who are vegetarians and even vegans in the world we live in who would not have an issue with eating and using every part of an animal they they had themselves killed for that sole purpose if a dystopian society were to come into effect for example.

There are so many angles to this that no one answer is correct for everyone, and I guess as long as we all have the true facts delivered to us in a non judgemental way, then the correct thing for us is to consider these facts and then make a personal decision based upon them, for whatever personal motivation is prevalent.

Great to chat and have a great day everyone.

Kind regards

Paul

Mussels, clams, prawns, are farmed
Theres mussel beds as you look out to sea#at Guardamar,
But eating anything natural has to be better than farmed, if of course you can afford to eat organic etc,
Look up how they farm prawns n shrimp in China etc,

There’s some tasty looking dishes there. My wife has chosen two to try, I’ll be cooking them soon, I’ll let you know what she thinks.
