That is such a short sighted action that will drive away tourists, charging €3.50 per visitor per day, may make a family of 4, paying €98.00 per week, decide not to come and go somewhere else. A family of 4 might pay €1750 per week plus spend €1750 per week on food and entertainment to have a holiday, that’s a possible €3500.00 per week!. You will need a thousand visitors to make up that loss to the economy. Who votes these people in to the position they have to make such decisions. Half of Spain relies on tourism in one form or another.
Without tourists, restaurants, shops and markets would be far and few between, hotels would close. What is needed is to encourage more tourism, but to spread it out. Instead of concentrating it all in one area, so that less high numbers hit one place at the same time, such congestion causes the mess they claim is causing the problems. Good planning and plenty of variety is what’s needed.
It affects me not one penny, I have no axe to grind, but they are shooting themselves in their own foot, it’s greed simple as that and when the visitors numbers drop by thousands, they’ll increase the cost. They always do.
By helping to cut costs, you encourage more visitors, this gives more money into the economy. This creates more jobs and more businesses, who need supplying by businesses. It snowballs! Always has always will.

The Spanish tourist tax is applicable to all visitors not just Brits so to describe as an attack on the wallets of UK visitors is quite frankly, laughable. The implication seems to suggest that this tax has been introduced and exclusively aimed at Brits in revenge for Brexit, also quite laughable. The UK rag press seem determined to continue to play the victim in a situation they created and supported in 2016.

It applies to all tourists even the Spanish, it’s charged and collected by establishments doing business, like hotels and guesthouses, it’s just that this reporting is in a British newspaper, no doubt the Dutch papers and German papers and the Danish and Norwegians will say a similar thing referring to their holiday maker being forced to pay these extra fees.
I don’t think the ordinary Brit gives two hoots about Brexit nor thinks the EU have the power or strength to punish GB. We still own all the banking!.
Brexit was a long long time ago, there’s been a lot of water under the bridge since then.
Britain is doing fine out of the EU, it’s the other things that matter now, the Ukraine war, our Israeli friends, the USA, The disaster that is the possibility of Labour being the next government.
Yes the Schengen rules are rubbish, but it’s more important that nukes are not fired by an angry Russia, causing WW3. We have much bigger fish to fry than worrying about some lefty wing political club with no clout.
All Europe will still be coming to Benidorm on dirty weekends, getting drunk and partying. It’s just now people will be a few beers short after paying this extra fee.

If you don't want pay it,go to a country that doesn't charge it, you do have choice,
If people can afford to stay in hotels etc they can afford to pay the tourist tax ,its your money, its your choice
