Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We couldnt do too much, as one of our friends had mobility issues but we had a lovely lunch and a good catch up and visited (with audio tour) the church of Santa Maria which was beautiful. We will definitly go back on our own soon and look forward to visiting some of the places you have mentioned. Thanks again

The Town Hall is worth a visit for the gold dali statue. I think it closes at 3.00. I hadn't heard of Mushroom St/Calle las Setas. I see the street mushrooms were constructed in 2013. I must give it a visit. It was the Marq Museum we went to on the last two occasions we visted Alicante so wern't in the city centre.
