Boat or drive all the way with pets

Boat or drive all the way with pets

I’ve looked into the ferry but there’s only ever pet friendly cabins available one way.

If you’ve travelled from the UK to Quesada with dogs by ferry and drive and by Euro Tunnel and drive, what were the pros and cons to each?

I’m the same drove down twice with my dog, little break 3/4 hours and two night stop overs. Plenty places allow dogs to stay for around €8 extra. Have done a 3 night stop over as well when in no great rush as we now have a holiday home.

We've drove down twice now. This time stopped at Tours first night and second night just inside the border Spanish side. Avoided toll roads and really enjoy the drive down.

Have driven dover calais to quesada with our dog, and back, more times than I can remember, never had any issues at customs, don’t take any tolls at all, stops at 3 hour ish intervals for the dog to walk a few minutes and pee, we don’t book a room anywhere, although there are plenty that take dogs. Instead we just Kip in the car for a few hours and then continue. Always been straight forward, no issues.

Not sure what you want to know, so specify your concerns for more accurate answers.

Other than that, happy travels

We have used both the ferry and driven down with 2 dogs & 2 cats. We much preferred to drive with overnight stop/s. Used to do it with just one stop but latterly did two or three and found it much more relaxing and less stressful on the animals.
Booking.com list hotels on route which accept pets with and without charge.

Yes, I think we’d do the two night stop off.

Hi, we have used the tunnel the last three years with our dogs and find it stress free. We stop 3 or 4 nights on the way. It puts a bit more expense on it but some of the places we have seen are beautiful. We always try to get to the hotel around 4pm so we can walk into the town and have a look around and a drink. We also have a cool box which can be used in the car or hotel room, it keeps the dog food fresh and the drinks cool.

Used the tunnel as the dogs stay with you in the car all the time. That way they are never left alone in a strange place.
