CaixaBank experience

Thanks for all the responses. I can tell you that my situation is no different from those posted. I was told that i would take the house insurance otherwise close the account. What they never told me, and i found out for myself, was that the minimum period for the insurance was 3 years. I did not want to be tied into this and therefore declined. The bank was not happy and threw their teddy out the pram. When I bought my house, they charged me €800 for a bankers draft and 2 bank transfers. They then informed me (gloatingly) that if I had taken the insurance, this would have been free. I was informed that my bank cards would be collected in the branch but they sent them to my rental at the time. Not good. They also told me that I must take a non residential account. We dug our heels in and stuck to our guns for a residential. Good job we did as we then found out that the charges were painful.
I could go on but what’s the point. In my opinion, a shocking bank with completely inadequate customer services and relationship builders who can treat customers how they feel fit depending on their mood. I have cancelled my account now and will not be recommending anyone to sign up to them in the future.
If you’re reading this and considering a bank to try; avoid them like the Spanish flu!
If anyone has opinions on other banks, please let us know.

I have had an account with La Caixa since 2006. I have had a mortgage with them. I have always banked at Torrevieja. For the last Five years i have had a bank advisor and the response either by phone or email has been within a few hours most helpful and always sorts out any problems that i may have regarding my account.
Having said that i may have been fortunate I remember going into the Quesada branch about seven years ago and asking for help with an issue ,the Manager was downright rude and i reacted, the result was he told me not to come back in his branch again which i never did, So it seems that the same bank with two different results.

My experience of Spanish banks is to avoid all of them like the plague, they constantly change the rules for supposedly free banking which becomes almost impossible to achieve without jumping through constantly changing rules, which always mean spending more money with them on over expensive policies of one sort or another.
Just bite the bullet & open a Wise or similar account & ditch the Spain banks.
I’m sure someone on here will say they never have a problem, but that’s not been our experience.
Good luck whatever you do,don’t let them get you down & vote with your custom elsewhere, there are numerous alternatives.Plenty of posts on here if you search for them.

I'm surprised the Forum Milk Monitors haven't picked up on this one.
It has been mentioned that forum members must not "name and shame" or post negative comments about businesses in the area.

What's the point of having a blog if you can't post your actual experience for other peoples benefit. The comments have been honest and objective so what is the problem?

Think there may have been a hint of sarcasm in the above post.

Don’t think you can class any bank as a local business,
