Just been advised of a 350e fee to bank a cheque into a spanish bank from a the sale of a spanish house.....and this before transferring it into a English account....is there another way?

We banked a cheque from a sale of an apartment no charge. We bank with Sabadell and are residents.

We were quoted a similar fee by Deutsche Bank, it was a percentage of the amount transferred back to the UK. I was put in touch with HiFx who worked in conjunction with Bankinter ( by La Laguna hotel ) there was a flat 50€ fee. I also got the offer of fee free banking. So when Deutsche Bank closed in Quesada I moved to them. It has been a good experience so far. Good Luck.

Its the bank charging the fee.
When we bought over here we were told to transfer the monies in increments to avoid payment,but the bank want to charge 350e just to bank the cheque!!

How easy is it to change banks here in Spain? Anyone had experience they can share?

Its the bank issue,wanting 350e to have the cheque paid in..

You can always haggle with the bank manager but not with the counter staff or why not open another account at another bank whey will not charge

Tried a different bank but charge was similar
