Advice on changing the name on the water bill
Advice on changing the name on the water bill
by Victor » Mon Nov 03, 2014 1:03 pm
Has anyone had experience of changing the name on their water bill. We have bought out our house from the co owner and are in the process of changing the name on bills etc. We did the Iberdrola with no problem, solicitor changed Suma but tells us that to change the Hidraqua will cost €150-200. This seems exorbitant. We would like to check it out first. Know there is phone no, web site and the office is in Rojales. Has anyone contacted them and do they speak English. Looked at the website but need to register, problem is in which name!
Cheers

Recently changed my billing name, from the previous tenants name, at Rojales office and there was no charge Unless this charge is a new rule since.
Call in and talk to them, taking with you proof of name address NIE etc.
The lady I spoke to spoke perfect English.

Checked with Hidraqua and they sent us to the Town hall for Declaracion Responsable. To get this we need usual documents which include Certifico expedido por tecnico competente. We think this requires an architect, probably where cost comes from as actual charge to Town hall is €50. Going home shortly but will do more research online for more info. Back end of January. Some locals advise leaving the name as it is, as we are paying the bills there is no problem!

Good morning,
There is no cost for changing the name of the water bill. A cost of € 114.77 (VAT included) is needed only if exists a debt from the previous owner's in order to install a new meter.
For further information, queries or transactions you can call the business phone: 902 250 270, where you will be attended in English. You can also make your transactions through our website: www.hidraqua.es
Best regards.

Now that is excellent customer service from Hidraqua. If only Iberdrola and others would do the same!

Yes, I agree. Maybe the other utilities will come on the forum to give advice too. It's good to get posts and opinions from our members but sometimes to get information from the 'horses mouth' as it were, knowing it is accurate, is really helpful.

Would like to say how helpful Hydraqua have been with our query. They had Rojales office emailing us as well. There is no charge for the name change as they say. Our problem is that we require a Declaration Responsable,. Think this is a certificate of Habitation. This requires a certificate from a recognised technican or arichitect. This is where the cost is involved. Still investigating a way we can get this ourselves without using our solicitor. Any suggestions or ideas are very welcome.
