HELP We have had main line gas installed----we can't set the thermostat!!! Can anyone advise us please.
A word of warning , when our gas was installed .all was well . until we got our bills !THERE ARE TWO TARIFFS for residents and holiday makers. It took us months to sort out. When we finally did get it right out bills were a 10th of the price.

I take it you have had cetral heating as well? thermostats can be different get the people who installed your system to explain, they should have done that in the first place if they won't do this post the model of thermostat.

There are three tarifs and you can chose which one you go on nothing to do with being resident or not as far as I am aware and you can change the tariff once in every year if you want.

Just redone a contract with Anna, she speaks very good english and helpfull,as they have changed company's,not sure what difference there is for holiday makers. There are three different tariffs on the contract I have, it depends on the amount you use. Mini, economy, optima. Have gone for economy. They hope to get it in before Xmas !!!

Hi all the Gas fitter that did our central heating installation can be contacted on the email address below exceptionally neat good price and best components used I could not fault him.

A far better system than Gas Natural would fit, just the type of pipe used would make considerable savings let alone the way it is plumbed in.

I had gas installed but was only given half the story regarding installation costs. I was not told there would be a charge of 182€ to dig up the road outside my house and put in the pipes. This amount is added to the invoice by way of a monthly charge. I was not told that if I was only going to be using natural gas for cooking then I should not go ahead as there wouldn't be any savings. Who told me this? The manager of Alberto Sola the installers for my area when I complained about the costs. Gas Fenosa are a poorly run company and their customer service department do not reply to emails. You do have to be a fluent Spanish speaker to deal with them. There are several people in the 3 roads parallel to me who are not happy for various reasons. You have to watch out for estimated readings, and then have to take a photograph of the meter and email it to the customer services and hope they respond. My first 3 months invoices amounted to 92€ for cooking only. A bottle of gas costs 14.95€. This amount included the standing charges. There is also another charge for termino fijo which I have to find out what this is for.
To sum up for me it has been an expensive and total waste of time. There would be a saving if you had a gas water heater installed (450€) as there would be a saving on electricity. However if you factor in the boiler cost the saving would only show through after a longish period. If you already have gas central heating using bottles then according to 2 friends there is no saving at all it is in fact more expensive. If you have electric radiators then again you need to factor in the cost of installing radiators. I had a quote for a 3 bed villa of 4.500€ So for 2/3 months I don't think it would have been worth it. If you are a permanent resident I do not think it a viable proposition. However some people may think it worth the convenience and put up with the extra costs. I would have liked the salesman from Alberto Sola to have been honest with me. Instead he has left me feeling bitter and angry as are most of my neighbours. Business relies on recommendations. Alberto Sola and Gas Fenosa will not get any from the Quesada area where we live.

Sorry to hear of your unsatisfactory experience. We had a different agent who gave us all the info about costs so there were no nasty surprises. I elected to pay the €182 in one lump sum. We want central heating installed so it was a non brainer for us. If it is any help you can set up an online account which makes it easy to send in your readings so you get actual bills not estimates with no need for photos of your meter. After the gas installation I phoned Fenosa (you are right about the need for good Spanish) to set up the online account so I get my bills on line and am able enter meter readings before the bills are due. It is really easy to do using the Fenosa app.

Sorry guys I didn't think to check before I sent my previous post, but neither the App nor the Fenosa website has an English language option. How rubbish is that! Clearly this limits the usefulness of an online account. Hopefully Fenosa will address this in the near future as they role out to Expat communities.

You would have to be fracking mad to want underground gas pipes on an earthquake zone! Those gas companies will tell you any lies they can think of to sell you 'natural gas' that has to be piped in from Africa! Once in, they have got you, they will put up your bills and standing charges as soon as they can (it has already happened to people on Quesada and they regret having it).

Dont fall for the sales ploy! Tell them to leave the ground alone! You will be better off anyway to pay up front for bottled gas and you can even arrange for it to be delivered and replaced.

Avoid the greedy mogul companies! They are only interested in commission for the agents and selling an unnecessary commodity.

Its just another form of fracking!
