A far better system than Gas Natural would fit, just the type of pipe used would make considerable savings let alone the way it is plumbed in.

Scubydoo. Thanks for this link it is good to have a recommendation. Do you know if there is a way of knowing who is qualified to install gas? I know it is the fontanero trade that carry out the installation and I guess they advertise themselves as gas installers too, but do these plumbers have a recognisable accreditation similar to the British Gas Safe so you know they have been trained in gas installation?

Hi sylwina

Sorry I don't know. this chap came highly recomended and I know a fair amount about heating and wanted ours done in a way the is not the norm but more economical to run, when I talked to him he knew exactly what I was talking about and said no problem he could do exactly what I wanted, I know of gas fitters that have english qualifications but not sure if they have to have Spanish ones, looking at some of the Spanish gas fitting and plumbing I have seen most people could do better themselves :text-lol: (not that I am sugesting this)

Sorry to butt in on this thread, but we bought our place in Benimar last October. The people who we bought off never bothered having mains gas put in, although there is a supply running from the road into next door.
As all the canvassing seems to have stopped in our area now, does anyone know who we contact to get it supplied. We're over at the end of the month and, having spent some time over in January, central heating is up at the top of the list.
Thanks.

Thank you Scubydoo. Maybe the entity Gas Natural Distribucion which is responsible for the 5 yearly inspections will have a list, as you can report any irregularities to them. I assume that even in Spain they don't just allow anyone to tinker with the gas! I don't won't to blow myself up before the fracking earthquake :-). I will give them a call sometime.

Reading this very long thread just reinforces my decision to let the dust settle before thinking seriously about this.
Every such venture has teething troubles and I'd rather not be part of this one's ; besides which I just had installed an expensive and (relatively) efficient electric water-heater. And I rarely use my oven.
I certainly wouldn't use bottled gas, so I'll make do with electric heaters, during the chilly times, for a while at least.
Good luck to those who have it ... and please don't blow me up! :D

Hi RogerB
Totaly understand where you are comming from but it is worth bearing in mind the instalations are virtualy free due to government subsidy and would be costly at a later date, also if you come to sell and yor property it would be a plus point. ;)
