Hello everyone.
I'm currently trying to get as much information on costs for living full time in spain (quesada area)
Can anyone give me a rough guide on the costs of all utility bills please.
It will be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

For a 3 bed house, all electric (no gas) and no swimming pool
Average electric over the year 90 euro a month.
Water 22 euro a month.
That was last year although electric standing charges have gone up so looks like 100 euro a month will be the norm.
Don't forget to check out how much community charges are as well.

Hi,

Ours for 2014/15 was €243.92 for a 3 bed house.
(Nowhere near the cost of Council Tax in the UK - Ours is around £2500 per year in the UK....Ouch!)

Hope this helps,

Jan

The one thing you have to look at is community charges. If you live on a residencial or urbanisation then they will charge a sum for the upkeep of pools, gardens, street lighting, lifts (if any) and general maintenance like cleaning. Most are based on the size of the property (build plus garden) but some share the cost equally. There are some pretty horrendous charges in places built on golf courses or with flats containing lifts etc and can go up to around 2000 euro a year. That is not the norm, I hasten to add. I would suggest about 500 euro a year as an average (an upstairs flat in ours costs 320, a 2 bed house 360, 3 bed with garden 520 and the large corner houses with 4 beds around 800). IBI (council tax) is based on the rateable value of the property so will also vary on size. Ours for a 3 bed house is €243 a year so you could say our total "council tax" is about €750 a year. Of course, we get the benefit of swimming pools, gardens, seating areas and general maintenance for that price which also includes the painting of outside areas. We are actually paying around 200 euro a month for all our utility, council tax, community fee and house insurance charges.
Just something to ask when enquiring about a property, how much are community fees (of course, if you buy off a community you won't have to pay them but security lighting, gardening, pool maintenance and so on then becomes your responsibility.)

On Lo Marabu urbanisation, which is a large area so more houses, it is only around €150 each year for community charge and that includes two large swimming pools. This year it was €154, as far as I remember.
However smaller communities generally have more expensive for fees, some a lot more! It is something to take into account when buying. Although, it can be a small price to pay for not having to pay for expensive pool maintenance etc.

Again. Thank you everyone for your help and advice.
We're hoping to come over and stay in the quesada area in November for a week to get a feel for the place.
As the job prospects are pretty slim there I was wondering weather it might actually be more worth wild if we bought 2 properties. Obviously live in the one and rent the other out all year round.
As I have said on my other post. All of this is just a pipe dream at the moment. But it's good to get info on different options :).
Thanks again

There are hundreds of properties for rent in the area, thousands if you include the surrounding towns. Some are being advertised for as low as €350 a month just so the owners can recoup their annual bills. Loads of properties remain empty for most of the year just filling up in the Summer months. New laws have been introduced regarding registration of properties for rent (though not yet in the Valencia region) with health & safety certificates required. Plus any income is taxable at around 25%. I'd think very carefully about buying to let at the moment.
