Drinking water tank
Drinking water tank
by Dinkelharper » Thu Feb 22, 2018 2:55 pm
Hi, I was wondering about water. We have a tank that we fill up for drinking water. Basically the house is in the country and not connected to city water. we pay for drinking water which is delivered by truck and is used for everything. Issue is that we don't drink it at all but do shower, cook etc. Is it possible to have cheaper water like for irrigation (half price) and a water filter system in the kitchen for cooking. But what about the showers? Can one shower and feel clean with irrigation water or does a separate filter system need to be installed for that if such water is used? Grateful for any input.

Irrigation water is basically sewage with the lumps taken out and a bit of fresh water added (less in the summer). It is full of pathogens. If you want to bathe in a toilet then that is the way to save water. Not to be recommended.

That's what I thought. I guess I am spoiled with better and cheaper water in Sweden. Thing is, as it is now I am getting drinking water in the toilets too, lol. Just think it is such a waste. Do you know if there are other options than drinking water if one has a system like me and thousands of others living on the countryside. We won't drink it at all and don't with drinking water either, but want to be able to cook, bathe and brush teeth.

I've seen water being delivered to fill swimming pools. Don't know if that is the same kind you have. Perhaps somebody might know.

Must be something different. It would be insanely expensive to fill up with water good enough to drink. I sure hope there is an alternative as I don't drink it anyway. Way too much drinking water wasted flushing toilets.

do a bit of diy plumbing ,divert your washing up water ,shower water, washer water, save and use that for flushing toilet, I save my washing up water in a bucket for flushing the toilet and have a large bowl in the shower to collect shower water, but I like to save the enviorment and help towards the water shortage and the plus is I save a bit of money,if its brown flush it down ,if it yellow let it mellow
