Electric and water on a repossession house

Electric and water on a repossession house

Postby glynnmartin45 » Tue May 27, 2014 5:06 pm

Hi could anyone give advice pls , we have bought a house in Dona pepa (a repossession) , we flying out in 3 weeks to get the keys , just been told by the solicitor that we are responsible for the last tennents bills , so we either pay that off ( what is owed ) or start a new contract ourselves , any idea on that cost ???? Also the time scale pls as we are only staying a few days then returning to the UK . But don't want to leave until I know water and electricity are OK , as there are bare wires hanging everywhere , and who knows if any water leaks ect .... thank you in advance ..glynn

I would check with your solicitor as you may still be responsible for any outstanding utility bill debts on the house whether or not you start a new contract.

Hi we are returning Sept, can I ask ref "repo" if there are outstanding accounts it was our understanding that any amounts due were deducted from the sale price, debtors cleared, and vendor received what was remaining (via the bank).
If the water and electric are disconnected due to non-payment by the previous owner how difficult timewise is it to have the services re-connected.
