Some misinformation here about Butane/Propane bottles!
There are two gas companies, CEPSA and Repsol. CEPSA bottles are silver or grey and Repsol bottles are Orange.
Both companies sell both Butane and Propane.
I use CEPSA bottles myself so I'm more familiar with their bottles. Most of the CEPSA Butane bottles are made of shiny aluminium and look more like beer kegs than traditional gas bottles. Their Propane bottles are made of steel and look more like calor gas bottles from the UK, and are painted either silver or light grey.
However, there are also some CEPSA Butane bottles that are made of steel and painted silver or grey with a red mounded plastic handle. The corresponding style of Propane bottle has a blue handle.
As I said, I'm not that familiar with Repsol bottles but I believe that both are painted orange, but the Propane bottles have a black band painted around them with the word Propano in orange.
The Butane bottles don't have the black band but have the word Butane painted on them in black.
The bottom line is that they have either Butano or Propano written on them which is the best way to tell.
Pete.
