Electricity problem

We are currently in UK and have just been told by my neighbour who regularly checks the house that we have no electricity supply. Thay have visited Iberdrola on our behalf and have been told that it is OK and is on!! All paid up to date etc. Has anyone else had a problem recently? My neighbour has checked the main supply meter cupboards and thinks that perhaps there may be a fault with the @fuses@ that connect our supply. Anyone any ideas what to do next as we are not coming out until end of January and not sure if we should call out Iberdrola somehow to check the connection or call in an independant electrician. Legally you need to go through Iberdrola. Mike

As Mike says ...It may be best to go through Iberdrola...Also Iberdrola are the ones who are losing out on the money for the electricity bill if the connection is interrupted for whatever reason and it's in their interest to find out what's happened.

Have spent the last few days trying to contact Iberdrola to ask them to check supply. My Spanish teacher here in UK and her sister in Spain have both tried to contact Iberdrola and have nothing but complaints for their customer service. The 902 numbers that they give for customer service are not manned 24hous and are also premium rate numbers. Iberdrola eventually gave my spanish friend an electrician's number but despite frequently ringing him he did not answer. I did get an email reply from Iberdrola 3 days after mailing them saying there was no problem with our supply, bills etc all paid so we should get a local electrician to look into it for us. My neighbour in Spain checked the main fuse box for the last time (she is president and has a key) before contacting the local electrician, poked and pushed our main fuse and lo and behold when she checked the house all the supply was back on !!!!!!! Great news for us personally but clearly someone, possibly the Iberdrola meter reader, had moved the main fuse and disconnected us. My thoughts are - do local independant electricians have access to the main communal fuse boxes? if not we would not have been able to resolve the problem without Iberdrola's help. I am now compiling a list of Iberdrola numbers and email addresses so I can react more quickly if the problem should happen again!! Happy Christmas everyone.
