Forged signature on Iberdrola contract

We would like to make readers aware of what has happened with our Iberdrola contract.
We access our account and invoice information online and pay a set amount each month by Direct Debit.
In December a representative from Iberdola came to the house. She didn't speak English but my Spanish is passable. I explained that I would prefer to look online at the new offers that were available to us and make a decision then. I had seen the offers available to us online already but had not acted on any of them. She kept insisting that we accept one of the offers she had for us. I made it clear several times that I couldn't fully understand her. I told her we are non residents and the offer she was making was not appropriate to us. I emphasised several times that we would sort it ourselves online. She asked to see my husbands passport to show that she had spoken to us. We supplied this and she photographed it and left. A couple of days later I tried to access our Iberdrola account online but couldn't view any details or previous invoices. I contacted Iberdrola and was told that I now had a new account and contract!!!! I complained and was connected to their compliants department. They have since sent me copies of the new contract that shows a poor forgery of my husbands signature this was taken from his passport which they also had a copy of. To cut his long story short..Iberdrola have returned us to our original contract andwe are to visit their office in Guardamar to discuss a new tariff/contract. The new contract that we had been erroneously signed upto included an extra charge which was for cover for all electrical domestic appliances..which we definatley wouldn't want or indeed would be prepared to pay for.

Have you considered going to the police. Hubby (an ex police officer) is amazed at their actions

I think this has occurred as the young woman who came door knocking may have been on commission or had targets to meet. This happened to us years ago in the UK when our Gas supply was transferred to another company at a time when the market was opened up to more suppliers. On that occasion the cold callers were on commission and ultimately we were compensated by the supplier.
We wouldn't make a denuncia as we feel it's not worth it and anyway we expect to lose a morning visiting the Iberdrola office in Guardamar. It seems to have been rectified ...fingers crossed..I still however, can't access our online account..

I had a man come to my door yesterday in Benijofar asking to see my electric bill, when I told him I didn't have one he got a bit irate, then kept asking to see my passport which of course I didnt, he asked to see my car documents, told him I had none, rental...he kept huffing & sighing, being new here I rang a friend & he put him straight, still tried offering a discount.... somewhat concerned, if they are not legal gas/electric representives how did they get a list of people's names & which house they live in...

The key is to never show these people your documentation, nor give them any document numbers. As mentioned previously they are commission only and get pretty desperate to "make sales".

Sometimes you need to show your passport. Recently we were issued with passwords and user ID by a representative from Rojales Ayuntamiento who called at our house regarding changes to our Valor Cadastral. She issued these to us once we had shown our passport. This now enables us to access the website of Ministirio De Hacienda Y Administriones Publicas, to view changes to our rateable values which have recently increased as from next year.

We also have access to the Hacienda website and have downloaded the new rateable value. Did not show any documents, they put a letter in our letterbox and we took it from there.
I would never show our documents to anyone who called at our property, if necessary I would prefer to go to the Ayuntamiento offices in Rojales or some other official offices. Much better to be safe than sorry.

Saffron that's an interesting point you make "if they are not legal GAS/electric reps how did they get a list of peoples names"
