Getting my house connected from septic tank to mains sewage

Postby samrob » Sun Jul 27, 2014 5:27 pm

Hi,

Could anyone please advise how I would 'go about' getting my house in Quesada connected from septic tank to mains sewage and an approximate cost involved please?

Regards,

Sam.

Hi Sam,
Welcome to TalkQuesada.

I hope you can get some help and advice from this posting. I don't know anything about septic tanks except that it must be a nuisance having to have them emptied.

I would imagine that it's easier to connect to mains sewage if any of your neighbours have already connected but hopefully someone may be able to tell you, especially if they've done it or know someone who has.

You will have to go to the water company in Rojales (aguagest as it was), they will give you a quotation to connect from your house boundary to the main sewer in the street. Expect between 800-1000 euros. You will then have to have the pipes laid from your house to the boundary, the cost for that will depend on how far your property is from the boundary, how deep the trench needs to be to get the drop etc.So it's not cheap but it's a one off and an end to the aggro of a septic tank and smells etc.Get a good builder to do the work, they will install those double bendy things that stop any smells coming back up the pipe and ensure that you have adequate drops and piping of the correct bore. Not a job to let a cowboy loose on, unless you want to pay twice.;)
When the sewers were originally laid the water company made the connection on a very cheap deal if the work was carried out while the main pipes were laid.

This information is based on my own experience of 7 or 8 years ago, I paid Aguagest 860 euros for the connection. What a difference it makes to be on the mains.
