Help with payment frequency for electric

Help with payment frequency for electric

Postby blackvelvet » Sat Apr 26, 2014 1:31 am

We are confused and hope someone on the forum can help.
We got our keys to our house about 19/11/13
We have only spent three weeks there, one in November, one on December and one
April 6th 2014.

We had a very tiny direct debit taken 27/12/13
Then a quite high one taken 04/03/14
Then another taken for a bit less, but on the23/4/13
These dates don't make any sense.
Only seen one actual bill so far that was for the direct debit of 04/03/14
I have emailed our fiscal rep and waiting to hear back.
Thanks in advance any explanations.

Hi blackvelvet,
Is it a new property or a resale? When we bought new there were a few extra charges for some things like installation and/or administration but then it settled down and now the Direct Debit is every two months. If it's a re-sale it could be similar but I wouldn't know. The bills when we have not been there recently have been around 45 to 55 euros for two months and when we are there they are a bit more but not drastically higher. I will try to get my last few bill amounts to see when and what they were exactly and put them on here asap.

Jan

It's every 2 months BUT can vary by a week or so each time. This one seems to be a bit quick and only 51 days since the last one but the previous one was a week late.

Hi Black velvet,
As you know also completed at the end of November. Had 2 bills as follows;
4/3/14 - 47.37
23/4/14 - 46.19

I think as the bills should be every 2 months, so working it out I think I've had the property 5 months.so expecting another bill in May then hopefully I won't get another until July.

You shouldn't get another one until the end of June.
Although the bills came out on 23rd April, the actual period of charging was 20 feb to 12 April. This is written on the back of the bill. This is 51 days which is a bit short.
Last bill, was actually 16 Dec to 20 Feb which was 66 days. Add them both together and it comes to the average 58 days billing.
(no, I don't know why the discrepancy, maybe trying to catch up with all the bank holidays).

Looking back on previous bills they are generally between 58 and 62 days.

Oh thanks one and all my husband is trying to get his round that we have only been there three separate weeks and the three bills come to 125!
God help us when we have to use the fans!
It's great to hear that most people get confused
Oh and Jan thanks too if you can give that info, but how long do you spend there during those periods on those bills if you know what I mean.

My last 2 bills show that the cost is broken down as 31% electricity used and 69% taxes and charges. You can see why the bills are so high.
Example, they charge just over 10 cent per day (€0.102) per kwh contracted. Most houses are 5.75kw so that's 30 x 5.75 x1.02 or €17.60 a month. On top of that is 10% green taxes and a couple of euros a month meter rental so about 22 a month. Then to cap it all, they stick 21% VAT on top. Therefore you'll get a bill of around €52 every 2 months before you even plug anything in. Of course, once you use electricity the special tax and VAT goes on that cost as well.

Edited to add: that 10c per day per Kwh is almost double that of 6 months ago in case you're wondering why bills have gone up.

Thanks marcliff, that made interesting reading; as did the other posts on this subject. A lot of my own questions have been answered and now I understand why we have to pay the amount we do when we are not even there. :)

Detail invoice dated 21/4
((fixed costs + tax)+ vat PLUS (consumption+tax)+vat)) = total invoice
period 66 days (14/2->21/4)
  • potencia fixed = 66d x 0,115187 = 41,81€ ( on contracted 5,5kw)
  • consumption 661 kwh x 0,124107 = 75,83€
  • on that 4,864% taxes x 1,05113 = 6,01€
  • hiring meter etc... 66 days x 0,000986 = 0,07€
  • on all of that 21% VAT = 25,98€
  • TOTAL= 149,70€
WITHOUT consumption, invoice for the same amount of days would have been only for the fixed costs + tax + VAT
or: 53,26€ - exactly 1 year ago we only paid for this 25€ !!!!
Price consumption/kw stayed roughly the same
we receive invoices (digital) and are debited every 2 months
we are with IBERDROLA

Hi SALUKI,

Thank you for that very interesting and helpful information. We have noticed the rise in costs but it's still not as high as in the UK.

Can you tell me where the bills are on the IBERDROLA Virtual customer office as I always have trouble finding them? I seem to find them after a long time trying each time but then don't know how I found them for the next time I go in on-line.

I have been trying again this morning and I want to list them on here for blackvelvet to see.

Thanks for any help.

Jan
