HIDRAQUA

HIDRAQUA

Postby keithkwll » Wed May 25, 2016 12:15 pm

On Monday evening the 2nd of May we received a visit from 2 local Police officers who asked to see my Passport when i asked why theysaid there was a problem with the Water meter which is installed on the outside wall of our Property in a recess which has a door. A man from hidraqua was checking the meter and discovered that a pin had been inserted into the plastic cover of the meter to stop wheels rotating.
the Police suggested that i should go down to the Hidraqua in Rojales, I explained i was flying back to uK the following morning for a couple of days but would contacted them when i returned.
on the friday saw my Solicitors who phoned Hidraqua who said wewould receive a letter from them the following week.
to date no letter has been received, getting concerned saw my Solicitors again who on phoning Hidraqua informed that they were sending me Water Bill for € 2822 as the meter has not been working correctly.
i have retained all my water bills for the last 5 years and the average amount for this quarter is €90 so where the hell they get the € 2822 from i don't know.we live in a cul de sac in Quesada so we don't know who has caused the damage.
Suggest you check your Water Meter on a regular basis it appears you can put a lock on the meter door as long as you deposit a key with Hidraqua.

This is very worrying for you but 80/90 euros is about average for us, whether we are in Spain or not these days (it's a little cheaper when we are not there - possibly 70 to 80). We don't have a swimming pool or auto-watering for plants and mostly it's just 2 of us in the house when we are there. These bills, a couple of years ago, would only average around 40/50 but they have gone up a lot in last couple of years (almost double what they were).

There is no way that a water bill could be the amount they are asking you for, if you have paid your bills over the last 5 years as you say you have!

We have always had a lock on our water meter cupboard which like yours is outside the property on the street - The water company gave us keys 11 years ago and it's always been locked.

I hope you sort this out very soon.

Jan.

PS If wheels have been stopped rotating surely that would show no water being used at the property, if so your bill would not even be 90 euros if I'm thinking correctly!
