Now that they are busy laying gas pipes all over Quesada has anybody any information on how much it would cost to have a gas boiler and a few radiators installed?

Just how flexible are those gas supply pipes? Would they not fracture during one of the many earth tremors that Quesada receives?

I imagine they're constructed of flexible plastic as used in mains distribution in UK. By the way, is the whole of Quesada being 'gassed-up' ?

Hello
Not too sure about gas here at the moment, however, we had no choice and as live out of town (Catral) and we had Oil boiler and 13 radiators fitted about 6 years ago, bit pricey then, think about 8,000k - this also covers our water. We top the tank up twice a year, not really necessary but I do like to keep it above half way - cost around 900e pa. We have it serviced every year by very reliable company - if you need details please email me.
More news, my friend lives in Moraira and she will be having propane gas CH fitted in January - something to think about.
What I like about all the above systems is - you wont get cut off or have problems re supple as you are in control.
Regards

My neighbours in Doña Pepa had an expensive bottled gas, radiator system fitted a few years ago, but found they couldn't afford to run it.
One problem with our houses (Lolas) is lack of draught-proofing, double-glazing and insulation, to keep the cold out and the warmth in
I just put on more clothes, and have efficient electric heaters, just to take the chill off .... the worst thing, IMO, is a cold bathroom!! I wear more warm clothes indoors here, in Jan/Feb than I do in UK!!
(You can buy quite a lotta leccy for the price of a CH system )

Those "draughts" you get will be coming from the windows. Even with the windows tightly closed and the shutters down, there are still draughts and cold air coming in, especially those large French windows. Of course, in UK, you'd have proper double glazing fitted and I'm always surprised how few people over here do that especially as it's cheaper than UK.
However, you can do a few things to cut it down. Fit some draught excluding strips along the window gaps. A roll costs €1.95 from the DIY shop and one roll will do about 6 windows. Fit something like Storm Guard. This is like a thick cling film which is stuck to the inside with double sided tape and gives a double glazed type air guard over the windows. It really does make a difference as the windows themselves get really cold which cools the air down. You can get them from Leroy Merlin or online through Amazon for about £6 and two boxes will do a whole house. You'll be amazed after fitting how it still blows in with the draughts coming from the windows. Hopefully the Storm Guard stops them coming into the house.
The disadvantage is you can't open the windows from the inside.
However, if you roll them up carefully, you can use them for several years.

Gas CH will work out the cheapest to run if you can't fit a wood burner or don't want one, just get rid of any drafts you have, it warms quicker and is more constant than any other form of heating. If you don't mind wearing layers of clothes for a couple of months you don't need it, but if you like comfort and have a gas supply get it but make sure you have radiators large enough to cope and thermostatic valves on each radiator. If you are here for the sun in summer why be cold in winter!!. Sat by the log fire now lovely glow you cant beat it and if we get gas on our Calle I will get CH without a shadow of a doubt so when I am to old to carry the logs it won't matter

One good thing to do is to put carpet down as a lot of cold comes from there.
