Iberdrola - Loyalty Discounts?

Iberdrola - Loyalty Discounts?

Postby Sandra » Thu Sep 05, 2013 9:22 am

A chap came around to the community yesterday, offering discounts to existing Iberdrola customers, if they continued to stay with the company. I haven't got any problems with the company, and I am all for discounts!:) The rep could only speak Spanish and French!! The only problem that I faced was the fact that the billing is in my husband's name - and he wasn't available to sign the required forms!! So I had the bright idea of changing the billing over to my name! Simple? No, not in Spain! I had to produce umpteen documents - and nearly an hour later, having had my knowledge of Spanish severely tested, I was handed the paperwork! I re-read it, and asked one of my Spanish neighbours to put his eye over it as well.

Hi Sandra,

I'm with Iberdrola and also have no reason to change from them. Do you know what discount they were offering and why to existing customers. So often it is only new customers who get the discounts in order to get them to sign up. Looks good to me and I hope they offer this to all existing customers.
Regards. John

Hello Sandra,

If I didn't know that you have a pretty good grasp of Spanish I would be suspect of anyone 'cold calling' and asking anyone to sign up for 'discounts' on the door-step. It has been known, in the UK, that people have unwittingly sign up to change suppliers that way but I assume that you were able to work out that it was a genuine offer. :shifty:  I don't think I could chance it!

No he was able to supply me with only details known to Iberdrola and myself!! Apparently they have decided on this initiative because they have had many of their customers "poached"! I haven't got a scan facility (computer only - no printer) where I am now, otherwise I would scan the documents in details in! The Belgians, on my community, have signed up to it, but only being able to speak French and Spanish the rep was at a disadvantage!! There are other Iberdrola reps going around who can speak English. Obviously of more benefit to residents than to the non-residents! This agreement goes through until November 2015; electricity price fixed plus discount in first year. When I go return home I'll scan this! There was also a "cooling off" sheet that you could submit if you changed your mind about signing the documents!

I think you will find the price fix relates to the power charge (standing charge) and not the unit cost.

The current kwh charge is just over 12 cents, so check that you have this rate on the new contract.

The Iberdrola reps are on commission and they
Usually increase the unit cost to cover this.
