There is a number to contact but, from experience, you will be on hold for a long time waiting for an English speaker and it's a prime charge number.

900 225 235 24 hour service.

They have an office in Guardamar at c/ Era de la Madaleneta, 9 and in Torrevieja at c/ Concordia, 5.
There is also a website with a "virtual assistant" in English. I haven't used it but it might be worth a go.
Iberdrola
That site also gives you maps of where their offices are.

It may be better to get your solicitor to speak to them!

Is it possible to explain the problem you are having with Iberdrola, if it isn't too personal? You may be able to get a bit more advice that way.

My bill is for nearly 2000 euros and is normally only 100. Cannot get any explanation and I have been told there is a lot of people on Las Siesta or El Chaperol with the same issue. Cannot afford to pay it and need to know what it is for. Don't want them to cut me off.

OMG That is extremely high! I would think it's a mistake with their billing system, especially as it's happening to others.

If you are on Twitter you could try to contact them by Tweeting @Iberdrola and asking your question on there. It can work very well - We had a problem with our bank in Spain once, while we were in the UK, and tweeted them and got everything sorted.

Another option, it's a slim chance but you could go and talk with your bank - If you usually pay by direct debit you never know they may help you find out what's happening.

If you have a Fiscal Representative solicitor who sorts out your taxes, you could possibly ask them if they could help you find out what's gone wrong.

Just a few ideas but others may be able to help you more.

Let us know how you get on.

Morning Jan, Been to my bank and recalled the payment back but they cannot help any further. Went to my Fiscal Rep who said I need to pay it and then get a lawyer to fight the case. They recommended one in Benidorm but too far for me to go, so still don't know what to do. Thanks Yasmin

When I had a problem with an Iberdrola bill (nowhere near as much a problem as yours) I spent ages on the phone and my credit ran out before I was answered.
I eventually found an email address which is [email protected].
This was answered in about 48 hours so perhaps you could try that one. Seemed to work as my query was answered in English and sorted.
Just make sure you put all your contact details and the Iberdrola account/reference number in the email.

All good advice above. The only thing I would like to add is that it could also be good to make a point of saying in the email that you are willing to pay a certain 'sensible' amount, to hopefully stop them cutting your supply off, while this problem is sorted. However, most people would find it financially difficult to hand over 2000 euros for one electric bill just while the problem is being investigated, as the refund could be a long time coming.

Hope you get it sorted very soon.

Jan.
