Did you arrange for the change of meter? Just checking to see if all the meters will be changed automatically as we are not there at the moment.

as far as I know all meters will be channged, we did not ask them to do it. Its one of the new smart meters that can be read at a distance. mind you some talk on the possibility that they could be hacked! thing is you dont have a choice

All meters in Spain will be replaced with smart ones by 2018. Billing will be monthly and the day/night tariff will no longer be necessary. Rates will automatically adjusted by day and time.
I'm on a tablet and haven't worked out how to post links but Iberdrola have extensive info, in English, on their website including a massive FAQ section.
The hacking of smart meters in the press referred to the UK system and I think Spain uses a different system.

Now I'm back on a PC, this is the link to the English FAQ

Smart Meter FAQ

And thanks for the link to the hacking. I suppose anything using IT and networks is liable to hacking from those determined to do so. The one I read was a BBC report on smart meters being hacked in UK so I guess it must be a pretty endemic problem
Smart Meter Hacking

Those currently on dual tariff will stay on it until the meters are fitted. Then it will automatically bill you on a daily basis. Night tariff is normally midnight to midday (hours vary on time of year) so use your washing machines, dishwashers and so on in the morning.
