NIGHT AND DAY TARIFF

NIGHT AND DAY TARIFF

Postby GLASSMAN » Thu Feb 22, 2018 7:49 am

changed over to night and day tariff last Feb2017, seen a saving of around €50 to 80 euro this last 12months and I would say I,ve used it a bit more,in an all electric house/apartment. its all the add ons on the bill that runs the costs up in my opinion,

Is this with Iberdola? Can you explain what it means, for example is it cheaper to use electricity within certain hours? Also is it easy to switch?

yes with IBERDROLA, its a two tier pricing system ,went into office in Guardamar,asked about night and day tariff, and changed over,they try and sell you white kitchen goods insurance so you get a bit more discount on your tariff,i think I paid €12 to change, ,I took the insurance for 2months then cancelled it,but still kept the discount ,that's what the girl behind the desk said most people do ,I think they bank on you forgetting to cancel it and they make abit of extra,it was only €1.96 a month.now if you change to e billing.(no more bills in the post) you get an extra 12% off your bill,
the night time in winter is 10pm to 12am cheaper ,12am to 10pm dearer. but you would have to
check to be sure, I have my 80ltr electric water heater on a timer in a morning 6am to 9am the hot water seems to last alday,we use aircon for heating and cooling, electric blanket, slow cooker,everything on charge in cheap rate, works for us 2.hope this helps,best going to iberdrola office early mornings 8.30ish plenty parking its a take a ticket system ,

If you look at Iberdrola's website they do quite a few different plans. I'm going to switch to the 8-hour one once our smart meter is working. With that we can get cheaper electric between 7am to 11am and 6pm to 10pm but you can choose your own 8 hour split. The costs are something like €0.07/Kwh on cheap rate and €0.16 on dear rate. Their website lists all the plans and prices.

It’s just not Iberdrola , all the suppliers have the same system. Iberdrola are the National Supplier of Electricity to the suppliers of electricity to people’s houses. (Many people think Iberdrola are their supplier, they are in some cases but there are about 30 different suppliers, they buy their electricity from Iberdrola and then sell it on to customers homes) The Day and Night plan has a Smart meter at your premises and two different times for charges. Ours is called P1 and P2, P1 is from 1200 till 2200 hours (this is the more expensive period. P2 is from 2200hrs till 1200 hrs, the Cheap period. We are with Fenie Energía and the rate for electricity is
P1 = 0.149529€/kWh and P2 = 0.075576€/kWh.
We consumed 369 units of P1 which cost 55.18€
We consumed 503 units of P2 which cost 38.01€
This comes to 93€ but when all the extras are added on the bill total was 147€. All the companies have similar add ons like meter rental per day, and IVA, plus some other environmental charges.
The bills are sent by email each month and are very comprehensive.
We use the major users of electricity, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, oven, pool, etc in the mornings

We have the day & night tariff from Iberdrola too and we are non-residents. We also have a smart meter. Our place is on a community in Dona Pepa. If you're with Iberdrola I'd suggest going in to your nearest office (ours is in Guardamar) and talk to them. Was quite a faff getting our online account up & running to monitor usage etc but eventually the staff in the Guardamar office helped with that too.

You can get the two tier system as non residents but the minimum I think to go onto any of the dual tariffs (there are others too0 you need a smart meter and 5.75 coming into your house.
They will arrange this for you if you have a smart meter.
