transfering water & electricty contracts on house purchase?

transfering water & electricty contracts on house purchase?

Postby Paul1000 » Mon Nov 21, 2022 11:36 am

I have searched the forum for information but I was unable to find anything so if this question has previously been asked/answered then perhaps someone could point me towards it .

My question:-

When selling and then buying another house in Quesada area, how easy is it to transfer the IBI acounts and both the water and the electricity accounts into my name on the house i buy please ?.

I have received quote from a conveyancer for this particular task and to me it seems very high for what I perceive as a fairly straight forward process but maybe i`m wrong.

The quote was 450€.

Thanks.

That’s an absurd amount of money to change name on a utility contract. Suggest you contact Oneway Services in Quesada, I’m sure this is the kind of stuff they do regularly. Hope you get it sorted

Just take the previous bill into the utility companies office and do it yourself free of charge or do it online

We moved within Quesada a month ago. Our Solicitors charged us 100 euros to change the electricity, water and Suma accounts. Ended up doing it myself far quicker. Very easy, just take your Copia Simple for your purchase with you. Job done!

Not always that simple Fred, The national water company need to see a certificate of secondary occupation before they allow change to a new named owner which many campo properties do not have, a friend of mine is still having to use the original occupiers name from 15 years ago although its is paid through his own bank account as it is virtually impossible to obtain one around here. The Spanish system I guess.

I had no problem with change over water, for a property in the campo, went into water office with address and copia simple, bank details, email address ,all done in 10mins,
Bills by email, paid by bank.

I didn't find that, no first occupier for 15yr, straight forward change over from old occupier 15yr ago.

Same for us for the water. Despite having just about everything else, they wouldn't do it without a Certificate of Seconday occupation. It has been 15 years. Still in the original owners name. The other utilities and SUMA all transferred with no problem.
