Uk government pensions have tax deducted at source so will not be taxed in Spain. However state pensions, private pensions must be declared here in Spain together with your already taxed government pension. Although you won't pay tax on your taxed government pension directly it will be added to your other income and may take you up into the next higher tax bracket, where you then pay more Spanish tax! UK savings over £50000 have also got to be declared.

Thank you all once again for your replies, and just to clarify things i was not been ignorant, i was new here and perhaps the people i was listening to were not as savvy with things as you people seem to be now. When i first came here and decided to buy the soliciter we used in Torrivieja somewhere said we will look after everything for you for a yearly fee never heard a thing from them and as you say ignorance is no excuse and i agree i should have pursued it myself but another saying is" ignorance is bliss" so we heard nothing so thought nothing to worry about ,but once again thanks for your time.

I'm sure we all understand and it isn't easy with everything we have to sort out when buying property. Most of us are sometimes just lucky if we get the right advice at the right time. Even some solicitors may just assume that we are doing what we should. We asked our solicitor if we had thought of everything and to confirm that we had everything in hand and they did but if we hadn't asked and had not kept them on as our Fiscal Rep to help us pay all our taxes, maybe we could have had similar problems.

None of us are infallible!
