Hi,

We have placed your question in our "Taxes in Spain: Suma, NIE and general tax advice" forum and if you look through some of the other topics in this forum you should find lots of help and suggestions there, while you are waiting, as this question has been asked in different ways many times before.

The easiest and quickest way to do this is to pay one of the gestorial services to sort it all for you. Most solicitors will do this , it costs a fairly high premium ( eg could be c120 or 130 euros each) but it takes all the hassle away. They'll fix the appointment, sort the forms, bring you there, interpret as necessary and there you have it . I got mine arranged via Silve Galve Abogados and it was a breeze. That's what you pay for... Expensive, but worth every penny in my view and if you need them urgently it is probably the only way to do it. Applying yourself is likely to take much longer..

We used a 'fixer' called Gary Oliver. He just needed some basic info from us and a copy of our passports. He picked-us up from Benijofar and took us to the police station in Elche. We were in and out within 20 minutes - all very efficient.
I can't remember how much it cost, but it seemed very reasonable. Give him a call on 656 839 183 and tell him that Pete from Ilkeston reccomended him.

Pete.

I'd also recommend Silvia Galve at SGM abogados. She's my lawyer and arranged my NIEs years ago plus my friends recently. I believe they're shut this week, but their auto response says to email them and someone will get back to you if it's urgent. Their website is www.sgmlegalspain.com and I'm sure you can contact them from there. Good luck :)

On the Spanish embassy site there are translations of the forms. Print it and have next to the form to help you know what information to put in on form EX-15 Then also print the second form (790) where you also mark that you're applying for NIE. When filled out and printed you bring this to the bank and pay the fee which is about 10 euro. Once paid he bank stamps the form. Then make an appointment at Policia Comisaria online. Once this is done you go to your appointment, bring the forms together with a copy of your passport and 2 passport photos. The ones from machines work fine. Done in 15 minutes and you really don't need someone else to do it for you, waste of money. They are also quite used to people not speaking Spanish and is not a problem. I did it when I spoke no Spanish at all and had absolutely no problems at all.

If you download the EX15 form from the Citizens Advice Spain, you can also download the instructions in English on how to complete it.
