I've just had an email, from the solicitors, re car and rubbish collection taxes and they've mentioned that Rojales has just approved a new tax on all properties with land of more than 100 square meters. It doesn't say how much it is, but it's payable in April (presumably next April) Anyone else heard anything?

I doubt that is a land tax. In fact, it is definitely not a land tax. It is your new annual rubbish collection tax. It used to be on your water bill but has now been separated from that and your water bill will reduce by about 19 euro each quarter to compensate.
This has been posted several times and we received it from our administrators:
We wish to explain to you a change in the system of payment of rubbish collection, which has taken effect from the beginning of this year. Invoices are arriving from SUMA for car tax and also now for an annual charge for the rubbish collection. Previously, this was paid via the water company on a quartely basis. This item has now disappeared from the water company's invoice. We regret that this change was not notified to you. It should have been included in the envelope containing the invoice and due to an oversight, was not.May we ask you please notify your community or association members or neighbours of this change as obviously we are receiving many queries from anxious citizens. Our apologies and grateful thanks for assisting us in this matter.Yours sincerely
And the annual charge is 78.36

So is there really a " new " land tax or perhaps the solicitor was just referring to an increase in the annual IBI? Can't see anything anywhere else about a new land tax. Suspect it may be just to do with the Council agreeing an annual rise or are they doing a revaluation of land ( the catastral value thing ) ? Anyone heard anything different?

I too got the 78.36 rubbish collection bill taken on same day as my car tax...

Here's the text of the email, from Fontanals solicitors. It does mention a "new tax".

"Please find enclosed the suma advice for the car tax year 2018 amounting 42,60 Euros and rubbish tax year 2018 amounting 78,36 Euros, this amount was charged in your bank account the 10th of April.

Just to inform your that the town hall in Rojales has this year approval a new bill for the properties with a land of more that 100 m2, this bill is payable once a year in April and in concept of rubbish tax, this tax was included in your water bill but with this new regulation the bill is once a year.

So they are telling you that houses over 100 m2 will have a rubbish tax of 78.36. Those lower have paid less.
