The only hint I have found on Google is that old NIE certificates are yellow, which mine is.
Maybe it's these that need updating.
I'll try and get clarification.

Mine is green

My NIE certificate was from 2002, I was told by various people that the certificate, due to new legislation had to be renewed every so many years. Panic reigned as I was shortly moving house, I made an appointment with solicitor, showed him my NIE certificate and it is fine. Apparently later certificates have an expiry date on them and have to be renewed, older certificates, with no expiry date, continue to be valid indefinitely.

You do not have to renew your NIE nor do you have to change it if you move address. After a recent move my Spanish solicitor confirmed these facts.

Could someone give me an idea of the location of the National Police in Orihuela. I've got an NIE appointment at 9am.
Is it reasonably straightforward to find and is there parking nearby? Appreciate any info.

Best to enter Orihuela from the Redovan end then at the roundabout go up the hill keep the Nissan showrooms on your right when you go through the tunnel and down the hill at the roundabout turn Left and go down to the commercial centre next roundabout take the right to next roundabout take a left into the parking there walk back to the roundabout over the bridge turn left on to main street National Police office is on your left

This is the commercial centre where you will park http://www.ccociopia.com/

Hi . Everyone.
I hope someone can give me some info please.
I needed a new will . I took Jim's advice and contact Notario Jose Carlos .
What i like to know is, I have only one son and the property goes to him no complications , does he need to have an NIE when the time comes. Also if he need one which is the best way to go about it. (do not speak Spanish) no police stations, I prefer to pay some one .
ps We are non residents .
I Thank you for any info , have a nice day.

He can get an NIE at the Spanish Consulate near where he lives in the UK and will not need it until the time comes
