Thank you for the extensive information. We are just coming up for our first meeting with an Accountant, and have been dreading the process and end result. This has really helped to put our minds at rest.

Tax is paid on annual income not assets.
Those were two separate statements and although I didn't go into the level of detail

Paul little Chris here . I use SGM ABOGADOS IN Beniofar most speak english and at least 1 is english. I use Esther Spanish but good English highly reccomend them google them.

From what i gather, i have to pay tax in spain on my state pension and my private pension(£500pm). Total just short of £1400 pm.
They are both paid into my english bank with no tax paid, and small amounts are transfered to spain to live on.
Last year i paid 1,700 euros tax through my Spanish lawyer, surely thats not right. Any advice please.

You need a good tax adviser not a lawyer there are a few allowances that can be claimed and a couple can check whether they are better off with a joint declaration
