If you are paid a UK state pension. Should you receive a P60 even though you are not paid enough to pay tax.

We've never had a P60 for our UK state pension detailing how much we've received. You don't get taxed on your state pension, they add it to any other payment and increase the tax on that payment but, as a Spanish resident, that shouldn't count.

Each year we get a letter saying how much it will be per week over the next year and we use that, plus the same type of letter the previous year, to show how much we've received. There is no box on the Spanish tax return to enter how much tax you've paid on it as there should be none, it is only taxable in Spain.

Furthermore, P60 is only a report of earned income, or occupational pensions, not UK state pension. My wife gets a P60 for her occupational pension even though she pays no tax.

If you need proof of income for UK state pension, you should receive, each April, a statement showing what the new weekly pension should be for the forthcoming financial year.

I do not receive a P60 on my UK State pension,

I am registered on the HMRC site for personal tax and that gives me past record and future projections of the State pension income for given tax years - I believe that those whose incomes do not break the tax threshold (but do have a tax allowance) may, normally, use that route - however foreign residency may cause that to be untrue.

You do not get a P60 for your State Pension
The accountants in Spain know this, so if an accountant here asks for a state pension P60, I would consider a different accountant as it would indicate a lack of knowledge in this area.
You only get a P60 on private pensions and any earned income.

Hi Marcliff
Bit confused, are you saying that the UK state pension should not be taxed in Spain or as my accountant here in Spain has calculated that my private pensions & state pensions take me above the "threshold" & I therefore have a tax bill for 2020. I am a resident here.
Thank you in advance, would be grateful for your response.

No, I said it was only taxable in Spain.
