Myself and Partner have thankfully just got ourselves contracted employment. We are fresh expats and need to start the whole process from scratch.

I have been reading conflicting info on UK Direct gov and forums in spain, some threads are out of date also.

We wanted to do everything ourselves without paying anyone, although we do have a translator.

Do you need your work contract to obtain N.I.E?
Where is the most local Police station to Dona Pepa to get one?
What do you need?

Many thanks in advance

Aimee

Yes you can do it yourself if you prefer to do it cheaper, or pay someone to do it for you.

There's a copy of the form you need and instructions of how to do it on this link (up to date link) : taxes-in-spain-suma-nie-and-general-tax-advice-f111/how-do-you-apply-for-nie-t10510.html

Also some helpful; info on this link too:

and this one may help too (all these posts are quite recent)

It's a pity you are in Spain, I got mine through the Spanish Consulate in Manchester, a lot easier process than it was in Spain. No long queues, or being turned away because they had too many people in line, downloaded the documents, sent them off in post, then received an appointment about a week later. Turned up with relevant documents, (passport copy of deeds, birth certificate) in and out in half an hour. :D Simples

Yes it is 50€. He will need a copy of your passport plus a passport photo. He'll take you to the bank in Orihuela then onto the police station where they will issue your NIE...simples.

Pop into see him he's really friendly and you may find that he can help you with other stuff as well.

Hi You only need ro renew if you are buying a car! Trafico are the only people that insist it is in date as the NIE No is with you for life.
