Sorry about this, but it might be easier to do it as we did. Find yourself an Abogados (Solicitor), close to where you are in Spain, and give him the Power of Attorney to sort everything out. The only downside, is that you need to make a brief visit to Spain to sort that out, then go home again and relax. The POA, is tailored only to what you require, i.e. NIE, property conveyance, or whatever.
