Info on Residencia & Social Security for NON RETIRED PERSON

Hi

I just got a job in Spain and they are busy drawing up my papers, but I now urgently need to get my Social Security and Residencia sorted out before I can start working. I have a letter from the company, stating all the details. Up til now I have been working in the UK and Germany and just came home in between assignments.

Now I have read most of the threads here, but it mostly refers to retired UK Residents.... I could not find anything about the rest of us working stiffs, and I have German Residency, but have not really lived there, so have no Medical, nada...

I have to get this done within a few days... and don't even know where to go! But at least my Spanish has improved a lot, so I may get by without a translator.

Thanks in advance. ;)

INSS office in Torrevieja. Calle Urbano Arregui, 8,
Open Mon-Fri 0900 - 1400.
(INSS - Institucion Nacional de Seguridad Social)
For the NIE, you need to make an appointment with a foreigners office with a National Police Station authority. There's one in the town hall at Playa Flamenca and one in Torrevieja but they have recently moved and I don't know the new address.
Best of luck

Hi Marcliff

Thanks a lot for the info. I have my NIE number, I just need to register with social security and get Residencia.

I'm going into Torre tomorrow to get my new Padron, since I moved from Quesada to San Luis, so have to get a new proof of address.

This is all quite nerve wrecking, but bit by bit I'm getting organised. :D

Now just gotta figure out how to de-register myself in Germany.... so German forums here I come, lol.

:text-thankyouyellow:

As a point of interest, my OH and I made three fruitless trips to Torre to obtain residencia and each time we were sent away to find another piece of evidence. It felt like the process would be never ending. We went through a different translator who took us to Elche and we were in and out in under five minutes. This was a month or so ago.
