Posted: Fri Nov 24, 2017 2:50 pmMy wife and I are in our late 50s, I receive a Government pension in the UK (RAF). The EHIC provides health cover for emergencies when visiting other European countries on a temporary basis, so should not be used in place of private health cover if living permanently in Spain. We obtained Residencia last month and once we've been living here for a year, we'll be able to look into contributing to the Convenio Especial. In the meantime, we have to pay for private health care.
