Believe you will also need proof of income , and if not working in Spain and paying into the system you will need private health care if not of pension age ...

I thought the EHIC covered emergency health care if not a full resident, working in the UK and below pension age?

I am going to speak to some of the recommendations given, so many thanks for those contacts.

I believe if you are applying for recidency EHIC is not sufficient ....nor is taking out a private plan for a month then cancelling it ...they will just cancel your residency document ...if private health care not in place if your of non pension age or not working in spain and paying contributions.
By the way my partner had to use the EHIC card at torrevieja hospital the weekend ..no problems

If you're in Playa Flamenca (not Quesada as your profile states) then you can get a temporary padron for the purposes of taking out residency. This will be valid for 3 months so you can start the procedure and will be issued by your town hall.

We are renting at the moment, completing on our house purchase in Quesada tomorrow. I'll wait until we're settled in to our permanent address and then go through the processes. I'm contracted to rent until 27 March so want to get a few things sorted before moving in.
