I find myself in the most strangest situation regarding my residencia ?

A couple of months ago I casually got talking to a chap in a cafe about
getting residencia, he said he can do them and has good contacts with the local residencia
departments, he came to our house, took all our information and was quite professional
in his manner.

He could only get the first appointment for just me, not my wife, I met him at Playa Flemenca Ajuntamiento with all the required paperwork..all went well in the residenca department, he said to wait for his call to go back for result and get my residencia card, he remarked that there was no problem.

Now this is the strange thing....I’ve never heard from him since and his phone number is dead !

Strangely, just after the residencia was supposedly done, I got a Spanish bowel cancer screening invitation ! So wondering if that’s an indication that my residencia did go through ? However
I have no residencia documents !

Any thoughts anyone ?

Talking to a guy in a bar?all con men seem professional,thats how they operate,came to your address, so he knows were you live,
he,s probarly stole your I.D.
did you give him your passport etc ?
even if he gave you paperwork back ,he,s got your personal info all the goodies to open a bank a/c .apply for a loan.

Sounds like he made you a hospital appointment

Wow...he must be some clever conman as he knew the woman doing the residencia paperwork in the official residencia office....we sat in the office together with her going through all my paper work...she asked for a photocopy of a document and he knew where to get photocopies.....he also knew our Health Insurance contact by first name....AND he’d already done one of our friends residencia so please...no more conman jibes !

Normally in these situations I google their phone number, sometimes you can find various bits of information attached to the number.

In all fairness, from your first post it sounds exactly how GLASSMAN & probably many others including myself read it. GLASSMAN was only trying to give you a "heads up" as to what MAY have happened, nothing wrong with that in my mind.

If you have his name, post it, somebody may know him, he may have a different telephone number now, that happens quite often.

I don't understand the bit about waiting for results and going back for the residency card.

It's not a multi stage process and when you do manage to get an appointment then it all happens there and then so what 'results' are you talking about?

Ah ok.....easily answered, the payment for our health care had not reached our bank statement...we had all the paperwork for it....but the payment was not showing on the bank statement at that time which the residencia officer needed to see, she tried to phone the bank to confirm payment but the line was busy so they were going to try later in the day as our allotted time had overrun....

Seems like Chrisdee’s suggestion makes common sense. Broadcasting his name on the forum might not only prevent others wasting their time going through the same procedures, but, if he is known to other Forum readers, it might also throw a light on why his telephone number is unreachable.
