Why not try LINEA DIRECTA. Have been using them for the last 3 years. No hassle everything in English.

We've had our place for 18 months and was recommended to use Spanish Insurance who have offices in Ciudad Quesada and La Zenia.

[email protected]
Ciudad Quesada : 966 731 691
La Zenia : 966 730 694

I deal with Lauren and the service we've received is great. We had a problem with damp walls in October and a builder had suggested he'd have to rip out the entire bathroom!! Our neighbour suggested I contact Lauren. I emailed her late one evening with photos and she'd replied by 08:15 next morning and their man was round by 10:15 same day!! He found the problem and sorted it out immediately having to pop out for some supplies. We left Lauren a key to allow the walls to dry out and when we returned 5 weeks later it was all repaired/painted and looking as good as new!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND. If only our UK insurance were anywhere near as efficient!!

NO to Liberty Seguros, cancelled our car last Dec. and now home insurance with them.
Got a good quote from Abbeygate, still have another 3 pending at the moment.

Hi willemite, We're in a similar position.

We were initially insured with our bank when we bought last year. It was expensive but part of a deal regarding the cost of issuing a bank draft. Close to renewal date we had to give the bank 2 months notice to cancel and visit the branch to sign a cancellation letter, otherwise the insurance would be automatically be renewed and we would be liable for full payment. Apparently this is how a number of Spanish insurance companies operate. :(

I've had a competitive quote from Intasure. This is a UK company underwritten by Lloyds. The cover looks good, the building insurance covers the kitchen/bathroom fittings (unlike Spanish insurance which is usually part of the contents) and there's no requirement for x months notice to cancel at renewal.

We own our apartment as non-residents and it is empty for around 6 months a year.

Re-above post ......I've also requested information and a quote from Lauren at spanish-insurance.net Thanks :)

UPDATE : We ended up going with Abbeygate Insurance (Wyedean). They're a UK company, FCA regulated and no notice for cancellation at renewal. Their quote was very competitive, the excess was lower than Intasure and the public liability limit was higher than Spanish-Insurance.net (Generali).
Not heard any problems with claims, so fingers crossed :)

Good to have another holiday home insurance company to compare when our Intasure renewal quote comes through.
