i wonder if any one can offer any advise on renewal of house insurance
We took insurance last year with la caixa due to not having to pay charges on our payments for the sale of our property and chose to cancel this year as so expensive
We are being told by Spanish law we have to give a months notice and we have only given a week
We have not had any communication regarding he renewal or even the cost so feel pretty annoyed
Can anyone advise how we stand with this please?

Correct. Virtually all insurance policies in Spain require one months notice to cancel (it used to be 2). The original contract would have shown it was an automatic renewal unless the full notice was given.
Some companies don't even let you know when the renewal is coming up, especially the banks. Make a note of when it is due and cancel it in plenty of time. The one month is from when they receive the notification, not the date you do it so ensure you give at least 2 months notice just to be safe.

I gave notice on both car and home insurance as neither could provide any idea of what my next renewal premium would be......I ended up staying with home ( with some small modifications to cover through choice) and changing my car insurance.......I would suggest everyone make a note in diary and give notice......the company will be happy if you decide to stay and it also shows that you will be looking closely at premiums and not just blindly automatically renewing.
