Recommended lawyers

Hello everyone,
I am completely new here and I have seen so much advice on so many things but I havenĀ“t found what I am looking for.

I am moving with my family to Quesada next year and we are having a house built. The agency we are going with has put us in contact and made an appointment for legal advice and services i.e. getting the NIE number... with Visona lawyers in Torrevieja. Has anyone heard about and can recommend them?
Thank you already in advance! Best regards, Claudia

Personally, I would find a solicitor independent of the builder and their selling agent.

If you've kicked off the preliminaries with Visona you might as well proceed with the NIE etc but, as far as conveyancing, keep your neutrality.

Yes that is true, we would prefer someone neutral but as we have no idea who is really good it might be better to go with them.
Recommendations are welcome!

Agree with Donduo, we finalised our purchase in June this year and had an independent lawyer, Silvia Garde in Benijofar.
We had major issues which were never highlighted by the estate agents as all they were interested was the sale.
Silvia ended up doing their work for them and managed to sort out the relevant paperwork needed to complete the sale.
Definately seek your own lawyer, think of the process at home, would you buy without the relevant checks from your own solicitors?
This advice is given over and over on this forum and its probably the best advice we have ever taken from this great site and its very informed contributors.

I also have Silva as my lawyer, great experience all round. She and her colleagues all very professional and thorough. They also do ongoing tax returns for you, act as fiscal representative. Etc. And they do a keyholding service too. But the most important thing of all is that you use a different solicitor from the agent and seller. There are other solicitor recommendations on this site as well, just make sure you get one independent of the agent and sellers...

Again, Silvia and her team at at SGM. I first met her as the lawyer recommended by my agent when I bought my first house and even as a recommended lawyer, she fought my side and helped when there was any issue at all. Highly recommended.

Hi Claudia,

The fee for obtaining NIEs for me and my husband was Eu 70 total, which included completing the forms in Spanish, making the appointment with the National Police in Elche, driving us to the Police station and queuing for and accompanying us at the appointment. I've seen others on here suggest they've got it even cheaper, but I'm making an educated guess that a lawyer's fee for doing this is going to be more expensive. There are lots of people who will help you obtain your NIE, so do make sure you get a quote from the lawyers for comparison.

Many others have said it, but it's SO important, I'm going to say it again - DO NOT USE THE AGENT'S/BUILDER'S LAWYER, YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE AN INDEPENDENT LAWYER!!! I've never used Silvia, but her sevices come highly recommended time and time again on this forum.

It probably feels pretty daunting at the moment - we moved here just last year, so have been through it fairly recently ourselves - and there's so much useful advice on this forum.

Good luck with the move and welcome to Spain!

Kind regards,
Kim
