Then I remembered someone on here saying how they took their hire car back to the airport after 23 days and exchanged it for another one to get around paying much higher rental rates so........

Ideally we would like to do 2 x 75 day trips per annum (we drive over) - so it got me thinking would we able to drive over on a 45 day trip - then drive to Alicante - fly back to UK on cheap flights - spend a night in a travel lodge - then return - car still at airport - seems to be better than driving back and returning a couple of weeks later BUT would this “quick return” constitute a second trip?

I know it’s not exactly in the spirit of the agreement but we would not be breaking the total number of days allowed per annum - but just wondered if it was a “work around” solution?

I see you have now got insurance but for anyone else thinking about leaving their U.K. registered car in Spain whilst returning temporarily to the U.K., bear in mind your car may be uninsured for that period. That’s what I was told by my Saga travel insurance. She called it “abandonment”. Either check with your insurer or leave it somewhere safe whilst you are in the U.K.
