Taxi to Los Montesinos and back

Hi there,
We are going to Los Montesinos for a meal this weekend. We are going there by taxi, but the taxi is not allowed to pick us up. Does anyone know of a phone number for a taxi to bring us back?
Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Dingbat :text-thankyouyellow:

Dingbat not sure what taxi company you use but I used Quesada Taxi No 4 for the first time at weekend to take us to airport with a driver called Domingo.
Turned up on time, car immaculate so would recommend.
Don't expect a conversation though!

Problem is that taxi's are only allowed to collect you from the area you are in,if and only if it is within the geographic boundaries of their operating licence,i.e. to go from rojales to torrevieja you need two different taxi companies.

It seems strange that the Taxi is not allowed to pick you up dingbat . I have heard of taxi's having 'areas' but if he's taking you there, then it's odd that he can't pick you up.

The taxi that Theboundary mentions (Taxi No 4) is on our list of Rojales Taxi's on this topic :
taxis-buses-and-public-transport-in-quesada-f83/has-any-one-used-quesada-taxi-t831-10.html

I have just found these registered Taxi's listed on the Los Montesinos Town Hall website - You could try one of them, as they are based in Los Montesinos :
Taxi nº 1 (Los Montesinos)
669 477 631
Taxi nº 2 (Los Montesinos)
622 55 25 56
692 15 87 72

That makes sense of some of the things we hear about 'Taxi areas/boundaries' - Therefore it seems that registered taxi's can take people to their destination but not bring them back as that is for the Taxi's in the other area, who can bring people back but would not be allowed to pick up from that area. I know what I mean! LOL

We have occasionally used a private individual from near Marquesa for local trips. Not sure if he is still available though as we haven't used since last August. His name is Tom and no. is 966716916.

I prefer no conversation as long as they are generally polite - It's not easy even with a little broken Spanish / English back and forth to have a proper conversation and personally think it is safer for the driver to concentrate on the road rather than trying to understand what's being said.

We had a registered Spanish taxi from the airport last year (booked in advance by email!) and he was a very pleasant driver but it was obvious he was trying to think of things to say in English and my husband was being polite too and talking to him in broken Spanish. Me being the nervous back-seat driver that I am was just thinking "please shut-up and concentrate on the driving!" So a non-speaking driver would suit me just fine.
:text-lol:
Does he do the airport runs to Alicante?

Yes, couldn't agree more - In the 8 years we've been coming back and forth this problem has always been here. Can't understand why, with the unemployment as it is, there are not more registered taxi's. There must be some kind of 'closed shop' going on - possibly preserving the jobs for the few...VERY FEW! It's ridiculous!
