My husband and I are looking for a small dog to join our family.

Ideally a year or under and small because we only have a 2 bed apartment.

Best place to start is all the local animal charities who have hundreds of dogs awaiting a new home. To name a few there's K9 animal rescue, SATS dog rescue, Pets In Spain, La Finca de Castallana animal rescue, Torrevieja animal shelter, Redz animal charity, Dogs and Cats Quesada.
Hope you find what you're looking for and give a rescued dog a loving new home

Yes, totally agree. Always try and rescue a dog from a shelter. They don’t deserve to be in there for no fault of their own. Give a rescue dog a loving home.

Completely agree we would much rather have a rescue!

Thank you for all the suggestions I've tried a couple of shelters but there's a few more you've listed that I didn't know about

La finca castellana are lovely …. I got my rescue dog from them and it was the best thing

We spoke to all of them and big red has hopefully found us a perfect boy to join our family

Look at Hope for Podencos. They always have dogs available for adoption. My 2 year old small Andalusian podenco was rescued by them with her mum and littermates. She's a delight.
