Can anybody recommend a good spray or powder to get rid of ants which have taken a liking to my larder cupboard. I have tried a trap but they won't budge, little blighters :(

I use normal Ant powder (like in the UK) maybe from any ferreteria or Johnsons in Quesada sell it...Also Oro spray (from any supermarket - usually used for cockroaches) kills Ants too and lasts for up to a year with one spray. I would be careful near food and just put the powder or spray around the outside or under the cupboard - get them before they can get in the cupboard is probably best.

Yes. Food grade diatomaceous earth. Completely non toxic as you can even eat it. It works by shredding the exoskeleton of any insect and causes them to die of oxygen starvation. I use it wherever i see ants and it does the job within a day or so. Some caution needs to be used like don't breath in the dust or get it in your eyes etc but beats most of that toxic cancer causing crap we get sold in the shops. Look it up online, it has multiple uses. If you use it on plants be careful not to get it on the flowers as it can kill the bees. You can buy it from ebay/amazon etc.

Kills bees, sheds insect skeleton..oxygen starvation. .don't breath it in!

Certainly non toxic then!

:text-lol:

Only joking as I suppose no insect killer is kind to environment or the insects. I think I would rather not know how it works. I thought insect killer just put them to sleep painlessly..leave me with that thought. ;)

For a non toxic ant deterrent. They don't like lavender or peppermint, so fill a spray bottle with about 250ml cheap alcohol spirit. I.e.vodka or gin, add10 drops peppermint essential oil.and 5 drops lavender oil. Spray wherever you see the ants . Another remedy is to spray your cupboards with white vinegar, either neat or diluted.
Also leave bunches of basil and mint around the house.
