Hi,
Can anyone advise me if the town hall or anywhere locally does a free wasp nest removal. I have a friend who lives in Montebello and has returned to the UK for a visit. I am looking after his house and noticed a small nest on the outside of his conservatory!
Can anyone advise please?

If it's very small you can spray with insect killer and knock it off the wall yourself. Have done that a couple of times in the past and had no problems.

Thanks Janjan, did try that before I went away for the w/end. Loads of wasps poured out so I got out of there quickly. When I went back today they appeared to have returned. Could give a longer spray but don't want to get stung!!

Wait until dusk when they are all in the nest. Spray well and long with the stuff you can buy and go inside for a while. (warn anyone else nearby go course. We've managed to get red of a couple of substantial sized ones. saving around 125 a pop!

You may be using wrong spray, fly & mosquito spray only get's a few. Use a good "Cockroach spray" such as the Red canned "Oro" normaly has Permanente written on it. Have the spray in hand ready to go, a few quick passes over the nest & at the first sign of movement run. Don't go back to look till next day, they will all be dead as it will get the late returnees. i knock the dead nest down but as the spray has residual effect for a year or more that may not be neccesary. Always works for me. Remember look for "permanente" or "Residual" on Can.

Spray in the evening with hair lacquer, this stops them flying, then with insecticide.
