Dogs left outside

Is there a procedure in Spain whereby if dogs are left outside all day and night you can tell someone?

I own an apartment by the Buena Vista Golf and across the road live a Spanish family with a beautiful, friendly Labrador who is constantly left outside day and night. I was at the apartment yesterday and as we all know it absolutely poured down most of the day and low and behold the poor dog was out there again absolutely saturated and cold with no shelter or any kind of kennel to go into. And if that wasn't bad enough the owners were actually in!

When I see him I feed him treats and talk to him he's such a lovely dog and in my opinion is being treated cruelly. If this happened back in the UK you would call the RSPCA.

What happens here? I love dogs but don't see the point of having one if your going to treat it that way IMHO. It makes me so angry to see this happening. If it wasn't for the fact I've got a dog already I would ask to have him.

There's another dog across the road from where I live again really friendly and the poor thing is wedged in a garage all day and night pining and barking never gets to see the light of the day. What is wrong with people!!!. It's the same with dog shit if you have dog pick up after it why leave the wretched stuff outside someone's gate so when they go to the bins etc they don't see it and hey presto there it is in its glory staring back at you at the bottom of your shoe ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING.

What's everyone else's views if any?

Very true its siscusting how people treat this wonderful animal but in Spain they dont seem to be as kind and dog loving like most other europeans but thats life I guess but if I were you I would ring or go to a dog shelter let them know and take it from there. Regards Pete.

Contact the police, they have department that deals with it, I think they are based I Guadamar.

If you ring the police in Guadamar and ask for SEPRONA they are supposed to help.

If you get a good result please let us know.
We have a situation exactly like yours but this dog is a german shepherd.
It was bought as a puppy by it's owners, put up on the solarium & has been there ever since,
in all weathers. It must be 3 years old now & has rarely been off the solarium & just walks
round in circles & barks at anything that moves, day & night, even it's owners. It has gone
crazy (IMHO) and just craves attention. Our neighbours tried to report this but were told that
as long as it's fed & watered, it's being cared for & nothing can be done. Disgraceful!

Well said everyone. I cannot for the life of me understand these morons that treat another living being in such a despicable way. As far as I am concerned, they are the lowest scum on the earth. Come on Spain! Do something about it!

Very topical I should read your post today, we've just arrived from the uk with our 3 dogs and when I returned from my walk this morning I said to my husband how many dogs seem to be shut out in the garden barking. It's absolutely horrid how these poor animals are treated; that poor Labrodor I just want to go and rescue him. I've aldo heard about the German Shephard that's shut on the solarium 24/7! That poor dogs brains must have been cooked. Why as human beings do we think sodifferently, it's beyond me. As the previous post suggested please report both these cases to the police, it has to be worth a try.

If you get in touch with ADDA Guardales they work and fight against the crime of animal abuse.

Thanks all for your comments. I was told that if I ring the APAH centre and give them the address details they contact the police and the police can cease the dog as it is illegal.

The poor dog was out again all over the weekend...so sad...
