Hi, we are thinking of travelling through Spain and France to get to UK.
Doing it by car, with 2 dogs in the car.
Can anyone offer any advice about regulations in Spain, in France, and entry into UK with our babies?
Would appreciate any info you can give please.

Cheers,
Lexi.

Done it several times with 2 dogs..kegallky they need to be strapped in when travelling.
I suggest you choose a route via foogle maps..
Toll routes or non tolls.
Toll routes nay seem quicker but can actually be longer than scenic routes.(avoid Paris!!).
Use booking com for hotels and filter for those that alllow dogs( i also send a email to confirm this). We use Ibis camponile hotels ,basic but sufficient.

Most french hotels seem to allow dogs..usually at a small cost per dog.
Scenery in france can be awesome if you want to see some french culture..
Finally,we use eurotunnel as it seems so quick and easy.
Just nake sure your passports are up to date..and that dog worming is done by a vet.
We usually take 4 days to do the trip, saving on tolls pays towards hotels, this also ensures worming is within correct parameters.
Have fun and enjoy your trip..
One last tip..fill up in Spain before driving throygh southern France!!!

pet passport and rabies jab before you leave uk, from your own vet, or, if not done, you will have to organise this in Spain or France before you get to the uk. Dogs cant return to uk until at least 3 weeks have passed since the injection was given. once this time has passed, you can come and go as you please, for approx 3 years until the next booster is due.

Whenever you are out of the uk, whether it be weeks or months, dogs need to see a vet in spain or france, for a health check within 5 days of arrival back in to uk, you will also be given a certain type of worming tablet for the dogs and they need to take this in that 5 day period. if you don't do anything, then the emergency vet will have to be called at the ferry port, dock, (whatever you want to call it), and you WILL be charged a much heftier fee for the laziness of not getting it done before you get to there

in spain, for us when we drive back, we see a vet at 'pets world' pet shop, within 5 days of arriving back in the uk, as described above. we are charged just 21eu for the privilege, be careful though because some other vets can charge much much more, 3 or 4 times as much, for exactly the same check up. they obviously realise its a niche market for dog owners.

its quite simple. good luck.

To see you are in La Marina I would recommend Patricia Vets in La Marina village speaks excellent English and very helpful and Eduardo the vet is brilliant. We have been bringing our dog for four years with no problems at all even though she is now 15.

We used to have a yellow labrador, and we bought him a caravan so that we could bring him down to Spain with us, stopping off at campsites on the way down. We found that Yelloh Village campsites had the best facilities, and we still use them now, even though the dog has passed on, and the caravan has also gone. With Yelloh Village you can hire chalets for a very reasonable price, so long as you avoid the school summer holidays.

You also need the Spanish vet to give your dog a worming tablet and record this on your dogs passport. It must be given at least 24 hours before your ferry crossing but no longer than 72 hours before your crossing. As previously mentioned your vet will be the best guide and also things may change with Brexit. A good website to check is About France which will give get details on the car journey through France with a sister website About Spain for the Spanish leg.

The dogs need to be in a seatbelt in the uk as well.
